So, the Conect Cadet Plus is a BBC microcomputer-controlled CNC lathe based on a Myford ML-10. If you’ve got the same one that I have, it has a motor controller board that looks like :
If you’re trying to get it to work with Mach 3, then it will run extremely raggedly on the defaults. A little investigation shows the following :
Mach 3’s manual recommends a spindle PWM base frequency of 5-10Hz. For this motor controller, you don’t begin to get linearity until much higher figures : I’m using 120Hz and it works well.
Hope this helps someone else. It’s the difference between the motor barely working and working well.
